ERC Proof of Concept: Helping Children Grasp the World Again

Our prestigious ERC Proof of Concept grant “PlayAgain” just started.

For this we are developing a minimally invasive neuromotor interface for children with paralyzed hands following pediatric stroke or hemispherotomy. Building on our discoveries of spared motor neuron activity in paralysis, we will develop gaming-based intention decoding to engage the children in playful rehabilitation. Later the goal is to pair this with a wearable soft-neuroorthosis to translate their intentions into real hand movements.
